Following up on my post from April 17, 2011, I want to share with you further research on failed predictions of doom from The article is from 2000, but is even more relevant today as the predictors of doom have continually been debunked over the past 11 years, even as they become louder and more insistent in their gloomy protests.

"Earth Day 1970 provoked a torrent of apocalyptic predictions. "We have about five more years at the outside to do something," ecologist Kenneth Watt declared to a Swarthmore College audience on April 19, 1970. Harvard biologist George Wald estimated that "civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind." "We are in an environmental crisis which threatens the survival of this nation, and of the world as a suitable place of human habitation," wrote Washington University biologist Barry Commoner in the Earth Day issue of the scholarly journal Environment. The day after Earth Day, even the staid New York Times editorial page warned, "Man must stop pollution and conserve his resources, not merely to enhance existence but to save the race from intolerable deterioration and possible extinction."

Here are just a couple of predictions that somehow failed to manifest:

“The world has been chilling sharply for about twenty years. If present trends continue, the world will be about four degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990, but eleven degrees colder in the year 2000. This is about twice what it would take to put us into an ice age.”
• Kenneth Watt, Ecologist

“Scientists have solid experimental and theoretical evidence to support…the following predictions: In a decade, urban dwellers will have to wear gas masks to survive air pollution…by 1985 air pollution will have reduced the amount of sunlight reaching earth by one half….”
• Life Magazine, January 1970

Earth Day seems to have come and gone this year and finding myself still here, I wonder if the doom purveyors have looked into their mirrors. I'm picturing them all walking around with their mouths agape and their eyes in perpetual wide-eyed amazement, for they are seeing life they predicted would be long gone. I wonder if they ever get tired of trying to scare the living daylights out of their fellow human beings. I wonder, too, if they would spend half as much time devising ways of human adaptation to the environmental ebbs and flows, wouldn't they be a happier bunch of people?

So Earth Day came and went. I was left here on the planet.... thinking about how wonderful life is and that natural law will have its way no matter what. As for the doomsayers, may their nonsense be the one thing that fails to survive.

For a live look at three eaglets and their parents in their nest in Iowa, GO HERE I dare you to be gloomy after watching them for even a few minutes!

Listening to Obama's latest campaign / policy speeches recently, all I can think of is the Shakespearean quote: "Me thinks thou doth protest too much." (Hamlet, Act III, Scene II)

Another Obama observer, James E. Rogan, writing on World Net Daily points out the following techniques of the Progressive President:

"Attack opponents endlessly, but always end the attack by saying you want to 'work with them,' and demand they end the 'bitter partisanship' infecting Washington";

"Keep telling your story, no matter how much evidence (or poll numbers) undermines the claims";

When the voters respond initially with shock or disfavor, keep pressing forward. In time, they'll grow tired and bored with the irritant. Given enough time, there is a good chance they'll turn their ire on the people holding you accountable for whatever shocked or irritated them in the first place."

Not just for the federal politicians, today in our local newspaper I saw the same exact technique deployed by the insistent toll road promoters in Gaston County. The chairman of the local Economic Development Commission says, "We haven't done a good job of educating folks." He says further, "The education starts today."

The subject is an ongoing controversy over a proposed toll road in Gaston County called the "Garden Parkway." This argument has been going on for a few years now. There is great opposition to this toll road. People have given many facts to support NOT building this toll road. The math doesn't add up. The Greenville, SC toll road ( a similar project) is bankrupt. The projected use of the toll road is way over stated. And last but not least, the people who live in the area of the proposed toll road do not want it or need it. Yet today we read that the proponents of the toll road just think they haven't done a good enough job "educating" the public on the benefits of this boondoggle. Yep, folks need to be "educated" to support the agenda of the developers who really really really want this road. One of the developers is a recently retired state legislator, Senator David Hoyle, who used his influence to get state approval and money for the road. His family-owned land development business just happened to buy some of the land adjacent to the proposed toll road. How coincidental! Hmmmmm. I guess he figures the state of North Carolina can fork over tons of money to prop up his family business of development next to the new toll road.

The famous Senator Hoyle is buddies with the movers and shakers in Gaston County. He has enlisted the Chamber of Commerce to support his toll road. He has the Economic Development Commission on his side. He has kissed all the right people and put his hand right into the state transportation till. The taxpayers of North Carolina are forced to guarantee the gap funding for the road to the tune of $1.4 billion, 35 million per year, for 40 years.

The arguments of the proponents are getting pretty silly, actually. They say this toll road will create 20,000 jobs in Gaston County. (Doubtful.) They say the toll road will pay for itself in just 40 years. ( JUST 40 years? and that math really doesn't add up even if people are willing to pay $5.50 tolls to travel 22 miles one way, double = $11.00 round trip.) They say the toll road will promote population growth in the southeastern section of the County, mostly for the sake of commuting back and forth to Charlotte. (If that is the case and a road is needed, then it does not need to be a toll road, but a public road paid for through normal tax channels.) The toll road promoters hired a government employee at a government university to provide an economic impact study to support Hoyle's toll road. How surprising then that the study regurgitates all of the proponents supportive arguments. This was done to combat an environmental study that showed the toll road will facilitate jobs in South Carolina, not North Carolina, by providing access farther south across the state border. The toll road folks couldn't let that stand, now could they?

The citizens of Gaston County, for the most part, live here because it is just out of the major megalopolis forming around Charlotte and is still somewhat rural. Most people living here are not interested in massive growth, but just want reasonable economic policies. Gaston County taxes are the highest in the state already. So even if the toll road were to bring the "massive" population growth to Gaston County, people here in Gaston County are not too keen on that idea.

But we must be "educated" on the Garden Parkway. As Mr. Rogan above describes the technique, "Keep telling your story, no matter how much evidence undermines your claims." The point here is that these types of political animals are relentless. They have dollar signs in their eyeballs. They don't give up, even when the facts stare them right in the face. Because if they lose the argument, they can't stiff you with the bill. They will sell you a pig in a poke. They will try to tell you they can make a silk purse out of a sow's ear in order to get your money to finance their purse. I think I am about at the number three level of the technique above. I'm tired of it, bored with it, and irritated as all get out. But I'm not turning my angst towards the people against the toll road. I'm just really tired of the spoiled brats soaking the public with lies for the sake of their own pocketbooks. Mind-numbing din. They just don't stop.

Yesterday I read about an upcoming Senate bill created by Dick Durbin called the "Main Street Fairness Act." After just seeing Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged Part I, I found the name of Durbin's bill sickeningly hilarious. She nails the hypocrisy of the language of the left in her book. Trust me, there is no "Fairness" in this bill, or any other euphemistically titled contrivance the Democrats have come up with in the last hundred years.

So what is the "Main Street Fairness Act" about? Taxing internet sales. Oh, goody. Another goose on the chopping block. You see, internet commerce is going too well. We can't have that, now can we? And Sen. Durbin must think it is just "unfair" to the Main Street merchants that they have to pay sales taxes, but internet intra-state internet commerce is not taxed. You knew it was too good to last. Our greedy and communist government could not possibly let unfettered trade continue without getting the grubby hands of government in on the take.

I'll use myself as one small example of how this will go. I'm a small goose. I have a business selling my original paintings, using the internet as a sales tool. I have a sales and use permit / license from my state. I have the ability to sell my design works as wholesale components without sales tax. But if I sell a finished product to an end user, that is a retail transaction. When I sell as a retailer to someone within my state, I pay sales taxes to my state for the privilege of selling. My sales, generally speaking, are not local. My sales are both statewide and national. When I sell to someone across the country who does not live in my state, right now there is no tax consequence. The federal government is not currently involved in either of these transactions. The federal government has done nothing to facilitate these sales that is not already paid for by other taxes. The shipper makes money. My suppliers make money. And hopefully, I make some money and my customers are happy.

So what happens to the price of my products when a federal tax is added? What happens to the competing nature of my products? Dick Durbin wants a cut of my business. He wants to use taxes to diminish the effect of unfettered trade. And he wants to use these taxes to further his idea of "Fairness?" Fair to whom? The goose? Does this tax encourage intra-state internet sales or kill it? Does this tax force you to buy locally as opposed to buying from someone in some other state? What would be the point of that? Would it be good for the shippers who will lose business? Is it good for my suppliers who sell across state lines?

Someone in, let's say California, has no opportunity to see my work other than through the internet. In order to offset the cost of shipping, there is no sales tax on purchases. If you are willing to pay for shipping my painting across the country, are you now going to buy from me with internet sales taxes added??

One more goose laid down with its head in the guillotine. Maybe the Republicans can stop Dick Durbin's blade. No idea. All I know is that the insatiable appetite of big government Progessive Communists in both parties is our worst nightmare. This is just one more nail in the coffin of economic liberty. Our federal government is using our own money via taxes against our liberties across the gamut from light bulbs to smart meters, from roads to property rights, from free speech to indoctrination in government schools. This is one more grab for more money to feed the predatory beast.

Town Hall Column by John Hawkins
"Government has become too damn big, too damn intrusive, and too damn lucrative for the good of the country. That's why so much of the political class in this country is comprised of con men, sociopaths, and fortune hunters. Quite frankly, most of these people would rather that you didn't understand their motives, what they really want to do, or the policies that they're implementing because what's actually good for the country is a much smaller consideration than what's good for them personally."

"2) A rose by any other name may be a skunk. The name of a bill doesn't necessarily have anything at all to do with what the bill actually does. For example, like it or hate it, the Patriot Act has nothing to do with patriotism. Obamacare, which is called the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, will actually raise the cost of care and will inevitably lead to the deaths of countless Americans -- as lifesaving procedures are denied to save the government money. In other words, put no stock in what a bill is called because for all you know, the Puppy and Orphan Protection Act may advocate grinding up puppies and orphans into a special brand of environmentally friendly Soylent Green."

As John Hawkins implies, "Fairness" in this case has nothing to do with "Fairness." It is just another assassination attempt on another golden goose.

The question remains, can we starve the beast before the beast kills all the geese in the nation?

Thought for the day:

"The illusion of freedom will continue for as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will take down the scenery, move the tables and chairs out of the way, then they will pull back the curtains and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater." - Frank Zappa

For those of you who don't know me, here is a bit of personal information. I have had the distinct experience of having a brother who, in the 1970's, believed with all of his fiber that there was an impending ice age. He got this information from the writings of John Holdren, Obama's current Science Czar. He also got this information from Newsweek magazine. This only brother of mine passed away in 2002, going to his death bed believing in the Global Warming (Al Gore) catastrophic predictions. In other words, whether it was the coming ice age or impending doom from warming, whatever the latest environmentalist prediction of disaster was, my brother was buying it. He went so far, as a young man of 24 yrs. in the 1970's, to have a vasectomy because, he said, the world was coming to a bad and catastrophic end with food shortages, over-population, environmental disasters, e.g., so he was not going to bring some poor unsuspecting child into such a horrible world. He was continually pessimistic, had problems with depression over the years, off and on became a vegan, gave tons of his meager earnings to the Sierra Club and Mother Jones, ranted about the unfairness of the world, loved to watch snakes eat mice, talked often about moving to Seattle to be with "like minded" people, etc. You can only imagine the conversations between myself and this brother of mine. He has been gone now nine years, yet I can still hear him ranting on about those bad polluters of the pristine world...meaning people in general. He sometimes would refer to himself as "a pimple on the ass of earth."

It wasn't fun being related to this guy. I often ask myself how in the world did he and I come from the same parents and grow up in the same house. So when I hear what the current crop of environmentalists are doing and saying, my ears perk up and I remember what my poor brother thought of life because of them. The funny thing was, he was not stupid. He was a very accomplished photographer, photography being his chosen career. But even that wandered off into the "outsider" art category at times. He enjoyed taking photographs at inappropriate times just for the shock value. I guess he was my close up and personal lesson on how radically inverted the mind can become regarding Gaia worship and such. It makes me sad still.

Anyway, enough about my brother, may he rest in peace. The point is that there have been crazy claims made by utopian environmentalists who blame humanity for everything and anything that happens in the world. If it's cold, they blame humans. If it's hot, they blame humans. The smart ones, like Holdren, know very well they are lying. They just see catastrophic environmental predictions as a tool to control people. Cass Sunstein, who wrote the book, "Nudge," is another one. So, maybe it is time to take a look at merely forty years ago and what the dire predictions were:

Newsweek's 1975 Prediction of the Coming Ice Age

"Newsweek has now acknowledged that in 1975, when it screeched wildly about "ominous signs that the earth's weather patterns have begun to change dramatically," it was referring to global cooling, which has since gone the way of the white polyester leisure suit.

Unsurprisingly, it was human pollutants that threatened to plunge the planet into icy ruin. The reason the gloomy predictions didn't come about, we are asked to believe, is that clear-air laws — no doubt inspired by Newsweek's civic-minded journalism — reduced the aerosols that were supposedly reflecting sunlight back into outer space."

Climate Depot Reports on Ice Age Claims This site has a list of several of the predictions from the '70's on the coming ice age. Included below:

1976 Book: "The Cooling: Has the Next Ice Age Already Begun" By Lowell Ponte - Excerpt: "This cooling has already killed hundreds of thousands of people. If it continues and no strong action is taken, it will cause world famine, world chaos and world war, and this could all come about before the year 2000."

In those days it was all about aerosols. Spray your deodorant and you are killing the ozone layer. Your refrigerator and air conditioners were worse. Today, the same fear mongers are using lies about Global Warming to justify spraying toxic aluminum into the skies to "cool the planet."

These days our government is enlisting geoengineers for the purpose of planned spraying of the earth with...wait for it.... aerosols / aluminum sulphates and aluminum shields, to block the sun's rays. Documentation of Chem Sprays from aerial tankers

California Chem Trail Spraying

"John Holdren, the director of the president’s Office of Science and Technology Policy, told an audience at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Monday that, “Large-scale geoengineering projects designed to cool the Earth could conceivably be done.”

Below is a link to a seven part video documenting the story of chemtrails and spraying already affecting some areas of the world...including John Holdren's own words.

So, which is it Mr. Holdren? Are we going to freeze to death due to human caused pollution? Or are we going to die of the heat caused by human pollution? Would it be that you are busy creating, geoengineering chemical sprays, a human caused pollution to freeze the earth, which would by coincidence fulfill your first prediction? Or are you sticking to the story that humans are heating the planet so you must approve of spraying aluminum particles to cool the planet?? No matter which way you go, you are blaming humankind for doing something you don't like? Or is it that there are too many of us and you just want to make sure to get rid of a few unnecessary humans to purify the earth??

And, on a personal note about my brother, Mr. Holdren. You sure screwed up at least one person's love for life. How many others?

Take a look at this video a fellow Tea Partier named Matthew Ridenour found. This should make Mr. Holdren very happy.

I determined to take some of my Saturday today to watch and listen to the Hillsdale webcast on the United States Constitution. I thought it might give me some hope to see people discussing the importance of the Constitution and hear a university presentation on such.

I'm writing to say the whole thing fell apart at the end. After listening to two hours of reasonably passable interpretation of the founders principles and meanings as a basis for support of the Constitution, the whole thing fell into an abyss.

After each of the two hour long speeches, there was a question and answer segment for the audience and speakers in which to participate. I have to say, I thought the president of the university just blew smoke at the questions for the most part, but when he answered the very last question I was completely disillusioned by the entire event.

A very nice gentleman stood up and asked sincerely, "What do you think of the Constitutional requirements for the office of President of the United States, and what do you think of the Arizona law, just passed, on that issue?" Well, here stood a president of a university which claims to be a supporting educational institution on the Constitution of the United States, and what did the president of the university answer to that question? With a rather condescending attitude, the president of the university, Mr. Arms, stated he thought it was a non-issue. (paraphrasing here) He launched into the requirements for impeachment on the basis of the birth certificate issue and concluded that would be impossible to attain. Then he stated he thought there were so many more important issues to discuss and argue, that the Constitutional qualifications for this president were basically inconsequential to the more important issues. Hmmmmmm.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. If we cannot do so much as abide by the simplest requirements for attaining the office of the Presidency of the United States of America, then what in the H E double LL are we thinking we can do about all of those other issues??? If we cannot adhere to the requirements of attaining the Presidency, then what is to prevent usurpers and foreign powers from taking over the highest individual office of the land??

So...what is it with this issue that people cannot seem to wrap their minds around? Mr. Arms brought up the alleged fact that Obama was elected. If Obama is a fraud, which I believe him to be, then the election was a fraud. It isn't rocket science. The man has never proven himself to be a legitimate candidate for the office and has spent millions on preventing the release of documents from most of his life.

So "foo" on you Mr. Arms, President of Hillsdale College. No spine. Not even a nod to the Constitution on this point. How hypocritical of you to present yourselves as purveyors of the Constitution, when you won't even support one important part of it.

Frankly, I'm sorry I wasted my time on this event. Hope you didn't.

A little interlude for freedom lovers....enjoy!!!!

First and foremost, please get it through your head that Climate Change is not caused by the energy you use to heat your house or the driving of your car. Climate Change is a natural state of the earth. Nor is there such a thing as Anthropologically caused Global Warming. Global Warming is a hoax. Since the insanity of the Obama Stimulus bill, I continue to be amazed at the propaganda of Climate Change agents and those who still cling to the stupidity of "Global Warming." It's as if the lies don't know how to die and the liars can't admit how stupid they are. If these were just stupid lies that could be ignored with little to no consequences, I could probably just laugh and go on about my simple and reasonable life. But the situation is much more dangerous than that. Actually, dangerous is too tame of a word to describe the insidiousness of what is going on with our nation in regards to "Climate Change," "Global Warming," "Sustainable Development," "Smart Growth," "Agenda 21," and all attached insanity.

Global Warming and the subsequent ruse of Climate Change are a totalitarian's dream. Convincing people there is not enough energy to serve humanity, while at the same time refusing to explore for and extract fossil fuels, is more of the totalitarian's dream. Creating a crisis that does not exist, and then pretending to fix the crisis by taking away freedoms, is the totalitarian's dream. It's a dream made in hell for the world, but it is the totalitarian's dream nonetheless.

In all of the discussion recently about our national budget deficits and the national debt, no one is focusing in on the oceans of money from our federal government flowing into forcing people to comply with supposed Climate Change initiatives, grants, regulations, and Obama's energy starvation schemes. Is anyone asking why those things are not on the table for elimination?? Billions, if not trillions, of federal dollars are being spent on Climate Change insanity and government controls over your personal life. All for the enrichment of GE, Google, Soro's hedge funds, The Gorey Al, and whoever else is tapping into our tax dollars going to the totalitarian desire to control your life and mine. Truth be damned.

I have tried to nail down the figures on the actual amount of federal money being spent on this insanity, but it is impossible to calculate the money already filtered through the various agencies, such as the EPA, DOT, HUD, Homeland Security, and others, plus the amount in the Stimulus Bill that is earmarked for "green" industries. I found one article that says the Stimulus in 2009 alone accounts for 91 billion USD. Another article from states the Stimulus Bill includes 100 billion USD. All well and good, but folks, this does not include all the money doled out by the federal government under the misleading heading of "Sustainable Development" over the last two decades and ongoing today. Add to that, more billions (apparently another 19 billion - see below) in the so called Recovery Act for the same purposes. So I've come to the conclusion that I cannot begin to put actual accounting figures together to show the extent of the problem. Suffice it to say that the United States has been economically raped for the purpose of controlling every move you make, not to mention property rights being taken away by these programs. A totalitarian who can figure out how to steal your money to take away all of your freedoms is a totalitarian beyond anything we've ever seen. The fact that there are many of them operating in our government is our worst nightmare. But, I digress.

Recently I heard about infrared, thermal imaging, cameras about to be implemented in the city of Boston in order to monitor energy losses in personal homes. The ACLU jumped on it with a lawsuit, citing privacy rights. The argument from the totalitarian would be, "Gee, what matters your personal privacy when you are killing the planet with your nasty emissions?"
Thermal Imaging Cameras in Boston
"Boston officials had hoped to have aerial and street-level photos taken across about four square miles of the city this winter using infrared cameras that would show heat loss in the city homes."

Smart Grids are popping up all over the states. Energy companies, all to eager to comply with the EPA and other federal agencies, are looking to rake in billions from higher energy costs to the consumer for less energy usage. I suppose the poor will be subsidized for their cooperation.
Government Power Grab
"First, keep in mind that this change over has been financed by the federal government via the Porkulus Bill. Progress Energy, which provides for the energy needs in Florida and the Carolinas, writes about their change over, “The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act signed into law in February 2009 contains provisions promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy, including $11 billion for Smart Grid-related technologies, $6.3 billion for energy-efficiency and conservation grants and $2 billion in tax credits for the purchase of plug-in electric vehicles."
And this:
Energy Police - Smart Meters Via Google

Let's not forget the RFID chips in our trash cans. According to our local city mayor and council, recycling is money loser for the city. But onward soldiers, we're going to do it anyway, complete with RFID chips and fines. (Just like Cleveland and Charlotte and a lot of other cities.)
Stimulus Money Grants for Spy Chips in Trash Cans"Government snooping on your trash apparently meets the definition of “economic stimulus” in 2010. Perhaps this is what Barack Obama meant when he talked about creating “green jobs”. Local governments are going to need a lot of “trash snoopers” to make certain that we are all recycling acceptably."
Fox News Report on Trash Police "But the new equipment and bins cost $2.5 million, so it will take about 15 years to recoup the costs of deploying the technology."

New buildings, those being constructed, are being built under codes to enhance the "green energy" industry. Just as your choice of toilet and light bulbs went away, your choice of construction materials and heating and air systems is no longer in your hands. Play the government game and you get tax breaks. In fact, cities are being redesigned and reconstructed to comply with Smart Growth designs using high density and high speed rail in order to limit land use by private ownership and restrict car traffic. Soon your garage, assuming you are allowed to have one, will be forced to have the electric charger brought to you by GE.
Cassandra Anderson - Epic Fail -MorphCity on Smart Growth

All of the above for the sake of lies from global control freaks who have figured out a way to get rich off of taxpayers. Hey, Global Warming / Climate Change guys...the next time you feel generous and want to make some totalitarian rich, could you leave me out of it? Do what you want with your money. Throw all the money you want at GE, Google, Soros, Al Gore, Obama, and the rest to restrict and impoverish your own life. But could you leave me the freedom to decide how to use my own money and land? Nah, I guess that is asking to much from misguided people with misplaced guilt based on totalitarians' lies.

In case you think I'm kidding, here is a website for you:
"Energy efficiency is the fastest, safest and cheapest method currently available for cutting carbon emissions. ... I cannot, for one minute, imagine what insanity corrupts the mind of George Soros, or, for that matter, the rest of his facilitators. We know that Soros' main organization is the "Open Society Institute." This is his baby from which all of his other networks flow. So what exactly is Mr. Soros' Open Society?

Beginning with Soros' education in England, he was submersed into the Fabian Socialist methods at "The London School of Economics. Within this education, he studied the theories of Karl Popper. So let's look at Popper for a minute:
Wikipedia on Popper

Wrap your mind around this from Popper: "We should therefore claim, in the name of tolerance, the right not to tolerate the intolerant. We should claim that any movement preaching intolerance places itself outside the law, and we should consider incitement to intolerance and persecution as criminal, in the same way as we should consider incitement to murder, or to kidnapping, or to the revival of the slave trade, as criminal."

In other words, Karl Popper believes all things tolerable except for those persons who are intolerant. I seem to remember that there are some cultures who believe in cannabalism. Should we be intolerant or tolerant of that? The morés of a culture that do not tolerate homosexuality or adultery, for instance, are intolerable morés. A religion that does not tolerate drug use, or bigamy, for instance, is an intolerable religion. Popper believes all things are tolerable except for intolerance? Hmmm...try that on for size. Where does that leave civilization?

More on Popper's connection to Soros from Wikepedia: "Popper's influence, both through his work in philosophy of science and through his political philosophy, has also extended beyond the academy. Among Popper's students and advocates at the London School of Economics is the billionaire investor George Soros, who says his investment strategies are modelled on Popper's understanding of the advancement of knowledge through the distinctly Hegelian idea of falsification. Among Soros's philanthropic foundations is the Open Society Institute, a think-tank named in honour of Popper's The Open Society and Its Enemies, which Soros founded to advance the Popperian defense of the open society against authoritarianism and totalitarianism."

Soros Bio in Brief Here

"Popper was also a distinguished social philosopher whose passionate denunciation of all forms of totalitarianism in The Open Society and Its Enemies (1945) gave Soros a personal idol, a lifetime belief system, and a brand name for his future charities. Soros took the open society idea to extravagant heights: for him it transcended all other standards of civic virtue.

Soros never studied under Popper, but read his works and submitted essays to him for review and comment. In 1982, when Soros named his first foundation the Open Society Fund and informed the philosopher, Popper was not sure he recalled Soros, but was pleased by the honor.

Although a mediocre student at LSE, Soros was intensely intellectual and felt he was meant to be a philosopher, fancying himself Popper's successor. However, in midlife he realized that he had no talent for it, and, after years in psychotherapy, resigned himself to making large amounts of money for his messianic mission to promote Popper's open society concept worldwide.

Popper's two-volume Open Society and Its Enemies focused on closed societies that suppressed reason, ones he condemned as magical, tribal or collectivist, but didn't say much about the open society itself, beyond freedom of scientific inquiry and the freedom to dissent. Ironically, Soros donations go largely to collectivist dissent. The logical disconnect between Popper's concept and Soros' implementation has been noted by critics."

From an essay by Roger Sandall on Popper's Open Society Theory
"But in the society aspiring to be open, the ends can be challenged and changed by “piecemeal social engineering.” To try to replace the bad old ends by new ends designed to be just as rigidly followed in order to achieve perfection, is to fall into the trap of “utopian social engineering.” It is to return to the tribalism of the closed society. It is for Popper the fatal weakness of doctrinaire socialism and Marxism in particular, and of all historicist philosophies of history that claim to know the inevitable process of change and therefore to predict the future and act on those predictions. Thus Popper appealed equally to moderate Tories who believed in muddling through, and to Fabian socialists who were for gradual pragmatic reform."

Does that last sentence explain the attraction to both the right and the left to "utopian social engineering?"

The interesting thing to me about Soro's / Popper's theory is that both of them wish to break down the sociological connections to cultural morés and historical information which tie a culture together. When I look at the "Open Society" theory, what I see is chaos and ignorance. Another interesting thing about Soros is that he has figured out how to profit from chaos and ignorance. He uses the supposed "downtrodden" and "disaffected" to try to justify his "Open Society." With his wealth, he is creating a redistribution system using our money, our taxes, our commerce, and our government.

Then there is the "Open Borders" part of Soros' "Open Society." "Open Borders" advocates the end of the nation state. It is the globalist view that the nation state is dead. The utopian theory is that without nation states we can eliminate wars. But where does that leave us? Without land borders, with all of the natural resources ascribed to those, we have a global free-for-all on those resources. Instead of the reasonable and prudent trade of such resources, we have global claims on all resources. This leaves global corporations in control of resources, instead of the geo-political boundaries of nation states. Now who would benefit from that??? Could it be that George Soros is profiting from global corporations? Just one example of thousands

Finally, philosophically, economically, politically, and culturally, George Soros is cleverly trying to put a square peg into a round hole. He is somehow successful in his derangement. Money talks. People listen to him because of his financial holdings. His basis for philanthropy is to rip apart the natural alliances between free peoples. His money bought the Presidency of the United States of America, putting Barack Obama in the starring role in the puppet theater. Since 2008 we have seen what Soros has wrought through Obama.

Now that we know this, what is the path out of the Soros fire swamp? ( cite: the Princess Bride) Wesley, where are you??

Front page of Hometown Section of the Gastonia Gazette - Photo of Mayor Stultz as Mother Earth

Click on picture for a larger view.

This is what the Mayor of Gastonia looks like. This is what the Mayor of Gastonia does with her time. This is what the U.S. Conference of Mayors is encouraging, i.e. mayors supporting Sustainable Development through the worship of Mother Earth.

What is the purpose of government? Celebrating Earth Day? Forcing people to comply with the United Nations' Agenda 21? Implementing Eminent Domain for Greenways? Using the force of government to tax people into submission? Creating high density corridors in order to force people out of rural areas? Regulating farmers out of the use of creeks to water their cattle? Using our tax money for grants to hand out to favored businesses who comply with Sustainable Development or Smart Growth? Taking privately owned land to create "buffer zones" around all water sites? Dressing up in costumes to lead the indoctrination of our youth? Taxing one business to support competing businesses in the name of downtown renewal? Using NGO councils to determine government policies without referendums?

Our Mother Gaia Mayor has done all of that and more. Constitutional government includes none of the above.

What has happened to our government? Costume parades in honor of Mother Earth? This picture just about says it all. I can't help but wonder if there is an adult left in this country who can lead us out of the wilderness and into the land of reason again.

Some years ago I was without electricity, water, and phone service for about three weeks due to Hurricane Hugo. It was one of those experiences one doesn't forget. I was much younger then with teenagers in the house who chipped in to help chop up the multitudes of trees we had down in the yard. The whole neighborhood at that time was abuzz with chain saws and good will to help everyone. It was an "event."

This past week we had some small (?) tornadic "event" that took out the power lines to my area. We have underground services in my neighborhood, but the feeder lines to get the power here are above ground. A dozen power poles were snapped in half and the transformer connections were blown. Our power company worked nonstop / 24-7 / to restore the power.

The first night was 34 degrees. This time the neighborhood was abuzz with generators at some homes. For us it was a slip back into survival mode. This time we still had running water, so that was a life-saver. I have a fireplace and fortunately lots of firewood stacked up. Battery flashlights and radios and one antique oil lamp were our saviours. I also have a gas cooktop stove now that I didn't have before, so with a match we could light the stove and make coffee, tea, and cook dinner. From the worrisome situation of our refrigerator, I cooked the most vulnerable food first. We were able to buy ice from a grocery a few miles away, so we packed the fridge with bags of ice to save the majority of the food. All in all, we spent a lot of time creatively thinking about how to save food and create light at night and stay warm. We huddled around the oil lamp after dark, reading and talking to each other without the blare and distraction of TV. I can't say that was a hardship. In fact, that was a very nice consequence. My husband and I missed our computer communications a lot. Both of us use the computer for there you are. Out of normal work time, but working on things we normally take for granted. No washer and dryer, no dishwasher, no electric coffeepot, no electric phones, no hair dryer, etc.

And when the power came back on yesterday, we gave a big sigh of relief and started putting all of the survival paraphernalia away again for another time. I still have to clean out the fireplace...waiting for the coals to completely cool down. I think I will spread them into the back woods for carbon feeding of the trees and green things back there.

What did I learn from this? Well, obviously, one lesson is how dependent we are on electricity. One thinks about energy starvation and what that really means. One thinks about which things one could do without if necessary. Survival mentality starts to creep in. It makes one want to buy some acres and grow one's own food. It makes one want to figure out how to get off the grid altogether. If I were thirty years old again, I know I would be giving that serious thought. But I am twice that now and can't imagine cleaning up after a cow and chickens to survive.

So dependence on an electrical power grid is the reality for us. Which is why Obama's energy starvation schemes are so troubling. The system is in place to assure us all of energy to produce and live. And for that, we produce more and live better than most countries in the world. Obama resents that. He despises America's success at providing energy for its citizens. He argues, with his obtuse and broken brain, it just isn't fair. Of course, he, himself, will not do without. Just the general population will suffer his consequences. A leader who wishes to impoverish and indenture servants to his insanity, Obama is the culmination of an idiocracy created entirely by leftists who wish to control every aspect of our lives to their benefit.

Useful idiots are there to help and implement his cause. So while I watched the power company employees work their tails off for three solid days to get our power back on, I thought about how Obama, the UN, and the idiots of socialism want to cut our power off while taking power for themselves, the power of control and the power of energy to go directly to them and out of our hands. It was a week for dichotomy, contradictions and....more contemplation on the insanity of the left. I wonder if we could figure out how to cut off the power to the White House until January 2013. We need to starve the beast..of energy, money, and power, so the beast cannot starve the rest of us.

Well, I bet you thought that when you elect a mayor of your city, that mayor would be responsible to the voters in your city. That's what I thought until fiats and directives by our mayor popped up out of nowhere and have nothing to do with our local citizens' desires for our city. I wonder if this is your observation as well.

The red flag for me was a recent eminent domain taking from our mayor who took someone's property for a greenway. That was the proverbial 2X4 hitting me in the head. I wondered where in the world does this mayor think she gets that kind of authority. What would make a mayor think that people want their property taken for something so inconsequential as a greenway? To be honest, this type of over-reaching has been going on for a long time in our city. And it hasn't just been eminent domain. It has been misuse of city monies, meddling in private businesses, top down controls of what should be simple capitalism / commerce, and countless awards ceremonies for really stupid things that should have nothing to do with the purpose of reasonable government. Usually the excuses are Smart Growth, Sustainable Business Practices, Environmental issues, Livable Communities, Walkable Communities, e.g. There has never been a referendum on any of these things. No formal approval by the voters. My reaction has been one of disbelief to denial. For a long time I've thought something was radically wrong with this mayor and these policies, but I could not figure out why she thought she could run roughshod over our citizens by redistributing our tax money to force businesses to cooperate with the global warming dictates.

So I went digging. And found that mayors belong to a club. It is not a nice club. It is a club with connections and partnerships you and I don't want. I stumbled upon the U.S. Conference of Mayors The U.S. Conference of Mayors is a policy making and lobbying organization. USCM has been working against the will of the people for a long time. More recent developments are cited below:

Wikepedia on USCM
The U.S. Conference of Mayors also houses the Mayors Climate Protection Center, created in 2007 to provide support mayors in efforts to reduce global warming in American cities.[34] In June 2007, the Center awarded its first annual "Mayors' Climate Protection Awards" to leading mayors. The "U.S. Mayors Climate Protection Agreement", initiated by Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels in 2005, seeks the pledges of mayors from all 50 states to take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 7% from 1990 levels by the year 2012, in line with the Kyoto Protocol. As of February 2010, 1017 mayors have signed the Agreement.[35] In 2007, the mayors called for a multi-billion dollar grant to help cities fight global warming and declared global warming as first on their list of top-ten priorities.[36][37] That year the conference and the city of Seattle hosted the "2007 Mayors Climate Protection Summit in Seattle", which featured Bill Clinton and Al Gore.[38] Wal-Mart has been a corporate partner in the presentation of the first two years of these awards.[39][40]

Here is a paragraph on the programs and policies. And no, I do not believe the USCM should be telling our local mayors how to implement federal policies within the states or our cities. What happened to Federalism? What happened to local autonomy? Where did your vote go??

The organizations members serve on the Council's standing committee which recommend policies for the general body to evaluate for endorsement at the summer meetings. The endorsed policies are delivered to the United States President and United States Congress.[1][31] recycling, defense fundingglobal warming.[52][53][54] Although the organization is domestic, its reach is international. It partakes in missions to worldwide locations.[55] When the internet blossomed and Bill Clinton made plans for an unregulated and untaxed electronic marketplace, state and local officials objected. Their voice was represented by the Council.[56] Mayors may also serve on one or more of the Conference's standing committees: Children, Health and Human Services; Community Development and Housing; Criminal and Social Justice; Energy; Environment; International Affairs; Jobs, Education and the Workforce; Membership; Tourism, Arts, Parks, Entertainment and Sports; Transportation and Communications; and Urban Economic Policy. The councils supports initiatives such as handgun regulation, and

So, while we know that "global warming" is a lie and there is no need for a "Climate Protection"treaty, and we know that our Congress never ratified any of the UN treaties to that end, our mayors have been working to implement Al Gore's big lie. But if you want to be a big shot in the world of mayors, and if you want to receive federal grants, you don't care what your local voters / citizens want. What do we get? The U.S. Mayors Climate Protection Center.

US Mayors Climate Protection Center

"Under the leadership of The Conference, the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program was conceived, making it possible for the first time in U.S. history, for cities, counties and states to receive grants specifically to fund energy-efficiency projects. This program was a top priority of the Mayors' 10-Point Plan and the Mayors' MainStreet Recovery Program. The Obama Administration earlier this year, acted to distribute $2.8 billion for EECBG, included in the Recovery Package (ARRA), which will benefit hundreds of U.S. cities."

"Energy-efficiency projects" the top priority? In short, if your mayor wants money from the feds and awards from USCM, your mayor will do what the USCM wants your mayor to do, which is cut your energy usage down to zip to ostensibly save the planet when the planet does not need saving??

Next time you see your mayor strutting around and getting awards for all those grants received by the feds, you might want to ask how much of your individual liberty your mayor just sold down the river for those awards and grants. When the "Smart Grid" arrives at your house so you may not adjust your own thermostat, what is your recourse? You have none. But you can open the newspaper and see pictures of your mayor with a crown on his or her head for being such a good friend to Al Gore and Bill Clinton?

Was there a specific day or time of day? When did the purchase take place and where? Actually, maybe the better question is, "Who sold the American government to George Soros?" Then there is the question of, "Why is the American government for sale in the first place?"

Who? What? Where? When? and Why? Oh..nothing to see here. Move along. I've had many posts since 2008 on the Soros connections to Barack Obama and the Clintons. But we are way past that now...from speculations to culminations. Soros is king of the world...or playing God, as he likes to say. He will get what he wants or he will destroy anyone who gets in his way...usually both.

I'm just a one person alarm bell, so how many people can I reach with this message? Persons here and there have been ringing the alarm bells all over the place, but it evidently doesn't matter. Soros bought the media, bought the Democrat operandi, bought the Presidency and the Secretary of State, is buying up the electoral process with his machine going after secretaries of states to affect elections throughout the land, and is smugly going about his destructive life getting richer and richer which just allows him to purchase more and more of America. George Soros is one happy guy.

While Americans were being disenfranchised from the 2008 election, and while Americans were duped by nearly all of the mainstream media, George Soros was on his mission.

The article below references Barack Obama's decision to prop up New Guinea's oil industry while at the same time derailing American energy independence. American energy starvation is the Obama plan on the table, but watch the hand behind his back. Who owns Interoil, the New Guinea oil company? A major holder of Interoil is George Soros. This is nearly the same situation that occurred last year with Brazilian oil company named Petrobas. The Obama administration lent Brazil millions to prop up the Brazilian oil company, Petrobas. Soros owned large stock holdings and the next thing you know, Obama tells Brazil we want to become their best customer. At the same time, Obama has shut down the Gulf coast oil industry and refused to process oil exploration and drilling permits to American companies. So to hear Obama talk about energy independence based on solar and wind is a joke, when what he actually means is: Let's make everyone else rich with American taxpayer money, which in turn makes George Soros rich, and Americans can go eat dirt.

The next article explains how George Soros is orchestrating the American operation in Libya.
"By Aaron Klein

"Philanthropist billionaire George Soros is a primary funder and key proponent of the global organization that promotes the military doctrine used by the Obama administration to justify the recent airstrikes targeting the regime of Moammar Gadhafi in Libya.

The activist who founded and coined the name of the doctrine, "Responsibility to Protect," sits on several key organizations alongside Soros.

Also, the Soros-funded global group that promotes Responsibility to Protect is closely tied to Samantha Power, the National Security Council special adviser to Obama on human rights.

Power has been a champion of the doctrine and is, herself, deeply tied to the doctrine's founder.

According to reports, Power was instrumental in convincing Obama to act against Libya.

The Responsibility to Protect doctrine has been described by its founders and proponents, including Soros, as promoting global governance while allowing the international community to penetrate a nation state's borders under certain conditions."

Soros is all over the Libyan operation

So, folks, did George Soros buy the Presidency and the keys to our tax dollars? And were Americans completely hornswoggled into voting our country into one of the biggest coups ever attemped in history? You decide.

Trust me, these is not the only evil issues going on with Barack Obama. But they are treasonous and I could only hope he would one day be prosecuted with the full force of the U.S. Constitution on that charge.
