WHAT'S LEFT UNTOUCHED?

I was trying to think today of some facet of our lives that has not been wrecked or manipulated in some way be the Obama's and their communist / fascist / statist administration. If you can think of something, please tell me.

Categories that have been taken over and adversely affected by the federal government under the Obama administration:
Transportation
Energy
Healthcare
Food / Farming
Housing
Banking / Monetary Policy
Land Use / Resources
Media / Communications
Marriage
Religion
Education
Business / Capitalism
Labor / Trade
Travel / TSA

In every one of those categories of American life, Obama and his minions have reached in and grabbed power to manipulate, force, co-opt, and tax. Probably more that I can't think of at this moment. And has any of this changed America for the better? Again, I can't think of anything. Not one thing. Prices continue to escalate. Unemployment is no better, if not worse in a most places. In the town I live in, unemployment is 11.6%. Tax revenues are down. County schools are scrambling to find money. Small businesses have closed, fled, or barely making it. People are on hold. Their choices more limited. Life is less hopeful. There is a pall in the air, an undercurrent of worry and darkness. I hear this and see this in the middle class around me, more than any other time in my life. People are going through the motions. Waiting and watching.

Which was the point after all. Obama was intending to destroy the middle class from the very beginning. That is what communists do.

The news media here talks of money being spent in Charlotte, NC, twenty miles away, for the coming Democrat convention at the end of the summer. Money for security. The city council has passed ordinances to tamp down any possible demonstrations that could disrupt the show. The bill just passed to stifle demonstrations was, I believe, intended for this purpose as well. The circus is coming. The circus known as Barack Hussein Obama. I dread it already. In fact, I have had a feeling of dread since 2008 when this circus began in earnest.

So what is better now, America? Anything? Are blacks any happier? Is anyone? The communist / fascist / statist left is not happier. All I read and hear is more griping and yelling about how they want more. Never enough for communists. In fact they seem even more angry than before the Obama election, if that is possible. Other than the favored corporate and banking industries, who is thriving? And are even they happier? It doesn't seem so. No one seems happy, hopeful, or eager for the future.

So what's left untouched by this darkness? Anything?

What does it mean to be a "Real American?"

It comes to my attention through the media coverage the last several years that both sides of the political spectrum in the U.S. claim the "real American" title. And each side demonizes the other for being unAmerican. Politicians will stand up in front of crowds and claim that their way is the American way, that they have the true interest of Americans at heart, that it is unAmerican to allow people and companies to fail, unAmerican to have a segment of poor among us. The President himself prefaces statements by saying that he is a Constitutional scholar and that his policies are "American." I find that to be just jabberwocky intended to pull in uneducated people who really are clueless on the tenets of the U.S. Constitution.

To be fair, both parties are claiming the "real American" label when, in fact, both parties have been passing laws that are completely unAmerican, antithetical to the U.S. Constitution. I have made some statements in this blog that I believe the political leftists, the Democrats, and the Obama administration are all unAmerican. When I say this, know that I am saying that they are tearing down our Constitution. In fact, I believe that they are MORE unAmerican than the Republicans, but both are working against the Constitution to suit their own political gain. I do believe more Republicans are more Constitutionalists than any who claim to be so on the left. In short, one is worse than the other....but both can play this game.

There are people in this country who call themselves "American" who either don't know the Constitution or don't care about it because they want the 'government' to hand them benefits from other peoples' labors. I do not believe these people are " real Americans" and I am not afraid to say so. I would politely call them "pretenders," but the situation has now gotten much more dire than that would imply. The situation we are facing today is sinister. Nothing less than that.

The first thing you need to know is that the only thing that is "American" is the U.S. Constitution. That document is the one thing that makes us "American." All of the other claims to be the "American" way by politicians, who are passing this bill or that bill to micro-manage our personal lives, are bogus. Forced diversity is not American. Affirmative Action is not American. Social Security is not American. Medicare and Medicaid are not American. Being American means believing in the U.S. Constitution as the one and only manual for our government. All we need to do is stick to it.

The problem we are having over the Health Care debate, as well as the Cap and Tax proposals, and even the Cash for Clunkers bill, is that none of these ideas fit into the U.S. Constitution. The bailouts of the banks, the TARP, the Stimulus Bill, all are completely unConstitutional. No Child Left Behind, and the Prescription Drug Bill were also completely unConstitutional. The Federal Reserve is unConstitutional. The government of the United States is full of people who are doing things for their own selfish purposes and not adhering to their oath to support and uphold the Constitution. That, in itself, recalls the oath of defending the Constitution from enemies "both foreign and domestic." How does that oath hold up when those who take that oath are undermining the Constitution themselves? That oath has become a joke in our current government.

In the history of civilization, tragically, there have always been poor people. What is different about being "American" is that the U.S. Constitution created a larger middle class and millions of people who have had the opportunity to rise out of that poverty. From a world perspective, America has been more successful at giving the poor opportunities that do not exist in other government structures. And while that is due in part to capitalism, it is due mostly to the Constitution that insures individual property rights, the rights to own the fruit of your own labors, and the pursuit of happiness. The most important rights included in the Constitution guarantee that you own your own person and the gains of your hard work. That is the key to the success of America.

No one can doubt that the Democrat Party has become more Socialistic. And they have taken power with chips on their shoulders, social engineers who, evidently, aren't satisfied with opportunity for all. They don't want opportunity. They say they want egalitarian results for each life. That in itself is completely antithetical to being "American." It is also an unachievable myth. What they really want is the game rigged in favor of government officials, so that individuals lose their Constitutional rights of owning themselves and are forced into giving away their opportunities, their ownership rights, their wages, and literally their own person-hoods to everyone else. Communes anyone??? In their utopian schemes, the individual owes the government (the collective) his or her life. There is nothing "American" about this.

So the next time you hear some politician proclaim they are proposing something "American," I suggest you make them pass the Constitutional test. They say things like. "America must do this because we look bad to the rest of the world if we don't." Huh? Or they say things like, "My way is the American way," when in fact it isn't at all. Ask yourself if the proposal is consistent with the rights guaranteed in the Constitution? Or is it some convenient hand-out to buy off either special interests or votes? Our country was not built on "collectivism." Our country was not created to "take from the rich and give to the poor." Our country was created to give everyone the opportunity to reach their own potential. If one person's potential is X and another person's potential was Y, that is O.K. Rigging the system with government intervention is exactly what has been wrecking the system, taking X and Y down with it. Why would anyone want more of that? But that is what this last election brought us.... more expanded unConstitutional government intervention brought to you by special interests and politicians who are rigging the system.

If you believe in and support the U.S. Constitution, you are a "real American." If you don't, then stop the meaningless proclamations. You are making liars of yourselves.

LIght Bulbs That Kill

Let's get this light bulb business settled once and for all, folks. Our government is now being run by people who have to be certifiably insane. That is the only reason possible that would explain why our bureaucratic totalitarians are in the business of forcing an entire country to use Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs, otherwise known as CFL's.

And once you see this and comprehend the gross maliciousness of this light bulb push by the leftists and environmental zealots in our government, hopefully, you will see just why you can't trust these people do manage anything, much less energy and health care.

So, let's see. The argument is that if we use these CFL's we will use less electricity to light our homes. I wonder what happens to that argument while they are also pushing electric cars that you are supposed to plug into the grid. Somehow I think they just replaced one electrical need with another bigger one. One gives you less light. The other gives you less mobility. Either way, you get less and pay more. Well, that is par for the course when it comes to government intervention, eh? But I digress.

The Sunday Times from the U.K. back in May published an article that may make you realize just how deadly and stupid this CFL thing is. Michael Sheridan writes from Foshan, China, "Large numbers of Chinese workers have been poisoned by mercury, which forms part of the compact fluorescent lightbulbs. A surge in foreign demand, set off by a European Union directive making these bulbs compulsory within three years, has also led to the reopening of mercury mines that have ruined the environment."

"Mercury is recognized as a health hazard by authorities worldwide because its accumulation in the body can damage the nervous system, lungs and kidneys, posing a particular threat to babies in the womb and young children. In southern China, compact fluorescent light bulbs destined for western consumers are being made in factories that range from high-tech multi-national operations to sweat-shops, with widely varying standards of health and safety."

"Tests on hundreds of employees have found dangerously high levels of mercury in their bodies and many have required hospital treatment, according to interviews with workers, doctors and local health officials in the cities of Foshan and Guangzhou."

I'm not sure if American politicians actually care if Chinese workers are dying from mercury poison. Evidently they don't. Maybe they think they can eliminate the Chinese population by killing them off while manufacturing light bulbs for those bad, greedy Americans. Next time you buy these deadly, low quality light bulbs, you might ask yourself how many Chinese died for that privilege. Just a thought.

As for carbon footprints, how much carbon does it take to ship a container full of CFL's from China to the U.S.? Somehow I doubt this makes any sense whatsoever if the goal is to lower carbon footprints. You pay more for a light bulb that you think is saving the planet, when in fact you have done nothing to save the planet and you killed some innocent Chinese workers while you are at it. All with the mandates from the leftists and environmental idiots in the U.S. government. Do you wonder why the U.S. is not loved and adored in other areas of the world? And do you wonder why manufacturing in the U.S. is decimated when our regulations would not allow such a devastation either to the environment or to the workers? I don't recall any of this dire health issue arising from the U.S. manufacture of incandescent light bulbs.

Further, from the same article, "The risks are illustrated by guidance from the British government, which says that if a compact fluorescent light bulb is broken in the home, the room should be cleared for 15 minutes because of the danger of inhaling mercury vapor. Documents issued by the Chinese health ministry, instructions to doctors and occupational health propaganda, all describe mercury poisoning in lighting factories as a growing public health concern."

The bottom line is this: Because of our government bureaucrats mandating these CFL's, you are more at risk, your quality of light and economy is less, Chinese workers are dying for this, and the environment is not one iota better for the effort. Now do you think those "Change" agents who took over our government are so nice? And wouldn't you love to have these same people in charge of all of your energy use and your health care?
