CLOWNS TO THE LEFT OF ME, JOKERS TO THE RIGHT OF ME, CALLING FOR ASSANGE'S HEAD

I am on the right side of politics if you call a Constitutionalist a right winger.  But for the use of metaphor, I referred to this song line where Jokers on the Right of me are the Republicans yelling "off with his head" about Julian Assange. I don't even need to go into the Clowns on the Left of me.  We know who they are and we know they need to get the shepherd's hook off the stage.  It's the Jokers to the Right of me I wish to yank off the stage along with the Clowns.

McConnell: "Wikileaks Chief a High Tech Terrorist"
So, Senator McConnell think Julian Assange is a "terrorist."  He could be a "provocateur."  He might be a high tech "muckraker."  If he were working for the American government he would be called a protected informant. He might be a lot of things, but a "terrorist?"

Come on, McConnell.  You can do better than that.  According to the article, McConnell says that the online release of secret diplomat exchanges has done " enormous damage" to the country and its relationship with its allies.  Nah, it must be revealing the truth that does the damage.

Then comes Newt Gingrich on the Fox Sunday show.  Same thing.  Newt says Assange is using "information warfare" as a terror tool.  He says it is Assange putting our soldier's lives at stake.  Hmmm.....couldn't be the insanity of bribing and lying to diplomats that would be the problem?  Nah, it's telling the truth to the world that is the problem.

Calling Assange a terrorist is an excuse to shut down the truth, one more voice after another adding to the call for his head.  This is an excuse to sic every hit man in the world after the guy.  And it tells me only this; that people who make dirty arrangements with dirty enemies and don't want the public to know about it, would like to kill the messenger.  This is appalling.  These 'holier than thou' politicians want to wire tap American citizens, want to tell us which light bulb we can use, how many gallons of water we can have, tell our doctors who gets what care, and want to put Smart Meters on our houses, but when someone sheds light on the "crap" that they are doing with our money in our names and with our soldiers lives, they don't like it very much...do they?

Call me naíve.  Call me crazy.  But I think Assange has done exactly what Glenn Beck has done with exposing the leftist revolutionaries and George Soros.  Assange has caught the exact words of the international players and exposed them to the public.  Soros would like to kill Beck and has tried to bribe him off the stage.  Same same with our elitist politicians....they want Assange off the stage. They want him dead or gagged or in prison or any number of punishments.

And, by the way, this Wikileaks dump of information is not on par with decoding the enemy's messages in WWII.  It is an exposé of just how corrupt our government officials are and how ineffectual their methods are.  Turn up a rock and see what lurks underneath.  Assange turned up the rock.  And we don't like what we see.  Is that a reason to kill the guy?

Do we want knowledge or do we want to sit idle in the dark hoping for the government to save us?  Are we a participant in our own lives, or are we bystanders? If we can't trust or don't approve of our government, our elected representatives, our appointed officials, then should we know it or just blind ourselves to the truth?  Frankly,  you know and I know that for quite some time now things have been 'rotten in Denmark' and smelling to high heaven.  Assange may have terrible motives. We don't know. Or he may be a media watchdog, doing the job that our media has refused to do.  Did we praise Woodward and Bernstein?  Or did we call for their heads?  I suppose Nixon would have liked their heads on a platter, too. Hmmm.....you might think about that for a minute.

Pray for his life.  I am.
Jokers on the Right of me.
I leave you with Shakespeare:
From Measure for Measure, Act II, Scene I

"The jury, passing on the prisoner's life,
May in the sworn twelve have a thief or two
Guiltier than him they try."

  2. Hey Carl...thanks for that. I've recently read some articles on Assange where he is assailed as the most wicked bastard that ever walked the earth. Those writing such things are angry that America is exposed. I am holding my judgment and hoping truth will win. As I write this, he is denied bail and is being held in Britain on the Swedish charges (which he says are trumped up by our CIA) fighting extradition. I think his aim was to expose world wide corruption and the U.S. being part of that. Whatever side Assange is on, he has riled up hate towards him from the most powerful people on earth. At the least he will spend the rest of his life in prison. They will never let him see the light of day again...beyond prison, I fear he will be murdered or he will commit suicide. Not sure they can outright murder him now because the world is watching....but they can have another prisoner murder him and there will be the cover up. He will be martyred, if that is the word for this, one way or the other.

I came across this quote today: "The welfare of humanity is always the alibi of tyrants." Albert Camus

I'm not an anarchist, but when governments become this corrupt, I wonder about the solutions. Sad and worrisome days. The powerful do not like their tricks exposed.

  3. I am going to have to disagree with you, Cheryl. I think there is much more to Julian Assange than just wanting to expose the corruption and the truth.

Example #1 would be the fact that he has released a list of sites that are considered high value targets. These are places that the United States thinks could do a lot of global damage, if they were attacked. They used to be secret for a reason, but Assange has decided the terrorists of the world should have access to that information.

Example #2 would be the allegations by one of his former partners that he has been selling some of the information he has obtained as "intelligence". It appears he is not so noble and good, but is just wanting to make a buck.

This is not to say that our country is perfect or that it hasn't made mistakes. That does not give Julian Assange the right to release some of the items he has released.

  4. LD, Hi...
I'm holding out on this one. I seriously am not sure who is the worst villain. I am sure our government had to be really lax to have been hacked by this guy. Apparently his motives are not pure...I've said I have no idea on that. Who knows that? There is a timing issue here also....we've known about his amount of documents and the danger of them since August or before...now all of a sudden we are going after him??? Something about all of this smells to high heaven.

Also, picking him up on this sex charge is ridiculous. It is just a ruse to keep him under wraps until the U.S. bribes somebody to get him extradited here or in front of the War Crimes Court at the Hague. They haven't even charged him yet with anything. If you can go after him, how do you protect the public from an elite secret cabal pulling strings to create tyranny? Is the public to be in the dark?

You say: "Example #1 would be the fact that he has released a list of sites that are considered high value targets. These are places that the United States thinks could do a lot of global damage, if they were attacked. They used to be secret for a reason, but Assange has decided the terrorists of the world should have access to that information."

I hardly think Assange is the only player who could have divulged this info to terrorists. We have enemies in Muslim countries we are doing business with, so he would not be the only weak link. Assange did not, would not, or could not redact all of this info due to the quantity of it.

How about the leaks on Global Warming out of the IPCC? Are we better off knowing the lies and corruption in that arena? Finally. Whoever leaked that info should get a Distinguished Cross.

You say:"Example #2 would be the allegations by one of his former partners that he has been selling some of the information he has obtained as "intelligence". It appears he is not so noble and good, but is just wanting to make a buck."

Since when does a professional investigative journalist, which he calls himself, not make money? Reminds me of Woodward and Berstein..Watergate. Did they not make any money from that? Were their motives evil because they cashed in? (Why is no one pointing fingers at MSNBC who sold Obama to get GE government contracts?)

Assange is not an American citizen and therefore has no loyalty to the U.S. or basis for treason charges. I don't like our diplomats or soldiers being targeted either, but is the messenger the problem or the terrorists the problem? Or is our government so corrupt at this point that we are going down anyway? Interpol now has carte blanche in our sovereign land...thanks to Bush and Obama. You think there are not international spies here also?

The NY Times printed some of Assange's earlier releases. Would you put them in prison with him? Where does that end?

Who paid the Pfc Manning to download all of this? How did a Pfc have access to critical information to leak?? Still a mystery there.

Assange did some good work to expose the Global Warming fraud. And he did find evidence of WMD's in Iraq, I've read. So...

The jury is still out. We'll have to keep watching this one.

    Thanks for your comment..!!
