Personal experience #1.
I have a pair of prescription sunglasses that I use for driving. I've had them since 2005, 4 yrs. ago. Because these glasses get thrown around in and out of my purse a million times, they have developed some superficial scratches on the lens....otherwise, they work fine. The sight part of the prescription is fine. I easily passed my driver's license test with this prescription. Nonetheless, I decided I need to go get these lenses replaced, just to get rid of the scratches. Just buying lenses in no cheap affair. So I hustled over to Lenscrafters with my prescription in my hands to get this done....and lo and behold.....oh, no, they won't replace these lenses unless I go get a new prescription. I said, "What?" "All I want to do is get new lenses!" They said, "NO, you can't." I asked, "Who is in charge of my purchasing new lenses for my sunglasses?" The guy said, "The State of North Carolina is in charge." Evidently, unbeknownst to me, the prescription must be less than two years old according to some bureaucrat.
Whoa, folks. There you have it.
Now you need to know the rest of the story, as Paul Harvey says. There is a former N.C. State legislator who is now sitting in jail for taking bribes. His downfall was colluding with chiropractors to manipulate the law. His name is, appropriately, Jim Black, an optometrist by trade. I think this is the same Jim Black who is responsible for pushing a law requiring every kindergartener to have an optometry exam before entering school. In other words, the State of North Carolina decides when your child needs to go to the Optometrist...not the parents. Hmmmmm.....I wonder who that benefits? Gee, let me guess. I don't know who in the North Carolina legislature got greased to require time limits on eye prescriptions, but I do know someone got greased.
All I know at this point is that in North Carolina I cannot get new lenses for my sunglasses unless I pay some optometrist for the privilege. And that dear friends is how this is going to go....with the government in charge of your health instead of you. There will be so much unnecessary butt grabbing that you are going to think you are a melon at the produce stand. This is just one tiny miniscule example of who is going to tell you what you can and cannot do with regard to your health. Multiply that out for every American...and what you have are some few very powerful bureaucrats telling you how to sneeze.
Speaking of butt grabbing, I used to laugh at the colonoscopy nonsense. Imagine you are a gastroenterologist and you have political connections. What would be the fastest way to get rich? First scare everyone to death that they are next in line to get colon cancer. Then have some congressional edict require that everyone in the country march straight over to the nearest out-patient center and suffer through the colonoscopy routine.....the 'drinking death liquid' they force you to drink, the entire day off work and dependent on relatives who also have to take the day off work, the anesthesia, etc. Result....a lot of very wealthy gastroenterologists. Nice work if you can get it, eh??
Further, imagine the psychology of this. You have managed to get an entire population to succumb to your greedy plan, and they followed along like sheep to the slaughter. Insurance companies play the game with you, i.e. upping the premiums to cover everyone's butts. (pun intended) You get hit in the wallet and the butt. But....the gastroenterologists of the world just made everyone scared to death (whether or not you have any history of intestinal problems) and forced everyone to take it in the rear!!
Wow....what a scheme.
For me today, it was the optometry association. I took one in the eye.
Good luck with that "Hope and Change" stuff. It's getting worse by the minute.

How General Electric Outens the Lights
Time was when General Electric was known as the company who made lives easier and lit up the country. They sponsored Mr. Wizard on TV. They were a huge success story and America benefited greatly from their innovations. When I was growing up there was a GE plant in my home town in Ohio. Some of my friends' parents worked there. One was a Research Engineer who was sent to Columbia to head up a research division and wound up murdered with his wife and two girls fleeing for their lives back to America. They were told by the police in Columbia to get the heck out of there fast. They never got answers to the mysterious murder and suffered from trauma from that event ever after. I was young and his daughters were my friends. We were all in shock. The family never saw saw the body. It was all very like an international spy novel or one of those movies that sends chills up your spine. One of the daughters, who was my closest friend at the time, had lasting emotional pain for years and years. To this day, there is no resolution to the event.
Those were my first impressions of GE. Sinister describes the image I have of GE today, in more ways than one. An American success story gone bad.
In case you are not aware of it, GE owns NBC and MSNBC. And in case you were locked in a closet all this past election season, those two news organizations were pushing Obama like ice cream on a hot summer's day. Every newscast was fawning all over Obama's supposed unmatched virtues. You would have thought that Obama was the Second Coming of Christ if you watched and listened to those channels. This continues today. Did you ever ask yourself why?
Timothy P. Carney reported in the Washington Post in March a revealing connection between Obama and GE. He wrote the following:
"GE — a member of the U.S. Climate Action Partnership, which advocates cap and trade — leads the push for greenhouse gas restrictions.
Reviewing their lobbying filings, you might think you were looking at Al Gore’s agenda. GE’s specific lobbying issues included the “Climate Stewardship Act,” “Electric Utility Cap and Trade Act,” “Global Warming Reduction Act,” “Federal Government Greenhouse Gas Registry Act,” “Low Carbon Economy Act,” and “Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act.”
This isn’t altruism or public relations. GE has started a joint venture called Greenhouse Gas Services, which invests in — and hopes to manage the trade in — greenhouse gas credits. But these investments and this trading floor are of basically no use and nearly no value without government restrictions on greenhouse gases.

Obama’s budget includes the payoff, promising to start a multibillion-dollar greenhouse gas industry by 2012. In a letter this week, GE’S Immelt told shareholders that current events present an “opportunity of a lifetime,” because “capitalism will be ‘reset.’ ”
Immelt, GE CEO, wrote: “The interaction between government and business will change forever. In a reset economy, the government will be a regulator; and also an industry policy champion, a financier, and a key partner.”
In short, GE plans to get rich by being one of the government’s closest partners — which it has always been, thanks to its unmatched lobbying efforts.
When the lobbying fingerprints of GE and other well-connected firms are considered, it’s not hard to conclude that the policy that will finally emerge won’t be the one that is best for the planet and least bad for the economy, but the one that is best for General Electric."
It's interesting to me that the general public expressed a desire in this past election to "throw the bums out" and begin with a new slate of Presidential material which was supposed to be "Change" from the old special interest politics, but what got voted into office was the old special interest politics on steroids. In the case of GE, the company has positioned itself to rake in billions from soaking the public with not only tax dollars, carbon rebates, but also increases in energy prices bound to be through the roof. GE created a propaganda campaign on its own news media in order to convince you to vote for the guy promising to enrich GE. The planet is not going to notice the difference, but you and I will...to our detriment. GE has no sincere interest in caring for the environment. GE has caught the winds of a trend, bought and paid for government favors, and is already putting up windmills in China using our money while figuring out how to use our government to enslave you and enrich itself. American voters keep trading one corrupt political base for another. Like a circular argument, it just keeps going around and around. The only thing that changes is the crowd that reaps the whirlwind.
Now you know why MSNBC was in the tank for Obama. Do you care? Do you feel snookered? You should.

Pride Goeth Before the Fall
America has made one huge mistake. And it's going to cost trillions of dollars, cause much worse poverty than you have seen in our lifetimes, and our children are going to be paying a terrible price. It's hard for most people to admit they have made a terrible mistake. First, they don't like to think they are wrong, so pride gets in the way. Second, they like to think they can figure things out, so it doesn't compute that they missed a big clue. If you look just at Bernie Madoff and several others like him, you can see that many supposedly erudite individuals got taken. Notice, they don't go around saying they got taken....that would be admitting that they were schmoozed, hornswoggled, and just as dumb as the next guy. Pride is a seriously difficult thing to overcome. So what is the mistake, you ask? One Big Addlebrained Mistake America. Frankly, I can't think of much difference between Obama and Madoff. One is just as adept as the other in making people lose their purses. One is just as adept as the other at convincing the victims of how confident and able they are at handling other people's money. The Ponzi scheme of today is being played out on a grand national stage with none other than someone posing as President of the United States doing the deeds. How many trillions were you voting to throw down the toilet, America? How many rights and freedoms were you voting to surrender, America? How much indoctrination are you paying for, America? How stupid are you, America?
The great skill Obama has is being able to calmly look at you through the teleprompter's plexiglass and flat out state obvious lies and ridiculous presumptions so cleverly that you don't even know he is doing it. He will tell you he really doesn't want to do X,Y, and Z, but, gee, the situation is so dire you must agree that he just has to take you to the cleaners and take over all of the hard decisions for you. Don't you worry your pretty little head, he's got it covered. Nevermind that he says one thing and does another. Nevermind that he has stripped America of any chance of economic recovery for the next twenty years. Nevermind that he has quadrupled the national debt within a short four months and spent more than all Presidents combined in the history of our nation. Nevermind that, when he takes over health care, you won't be able to call your Doctor of Choice and actually get an appointment within a reasonable time. Nevermind that your new car will be made of flimsy material and can't go more than 30 miles without plugging into a grid which will be rationed. Nevermind that you can't adjust your thermostat because he will do that for you. Nevermind that your local farmer can't sell to you because government regulations will not permit it without taxing cow flatulence. Nevermind that he said he would save jobs while 600,000 plus every month are losing them. Nevermind that your children are being turned into little robots with no real ability to think for themselves. Nevermind that he said he would defend the country while, at the same time, he cuts military spending and missle defense. Nevermind that he said he would defend Israel while he kisses up to the Arabs who want to destroy Israel. And, by all means, don't worry about North Korea getting those darn, pesky, little nuclear weapons. Obams can fix that, too, by just saying a few kind words to the Chinese. Oh, and that Supreme Court Justice? She's just full of empathy instead of judicial ethics. That's O.K. Don't you worry your sweet little heads, Obama's got it all figured out.
You're so happy. He's so appealing. He's so adroit. He's so capable. So smooth. What a great husband. He takes his wife to the theatre. What a great Dad. He buys his kids a dog. He must be so wonderful because he is such a great family man. And we all want a Daddy to do it all for us, now don't we?
Well, I have to admit that Obama is better looking than Madoff. I guess that's how he can dupe and entire country and not just a few wealthy investors. But I wonder how long it will be before the prideful and clueless Americans will begin to see what mistake they have made. "Pride Goeth Before the Fall." I wonder if that means by October America will be dining on crow. Oops, nope, that's the wrong "Fall." And we can't shoot the crows because of gun controls he will be sure to enact. So no dining on crows, either. I know some prideful Americans will never admit their mistake. It's just too hard to accept it when you have been swept up in a cult of personality. You can take your pride to bed with you now, knowing Obama's got you covered. For ever and ever, amen. He sure does.

Truth from Pravda!
Oh, the irony! To find a Russian columnist who has more honesty than all of the Western mainstream media and the guts to tell the truth. And not only that, but publish it in Pravda. I am astounded and amazed. I am also somehow comforted to know that there are some very smart people in the world who see what is going on here and not afraid to say it.

Aside: I've not been writing or painting for the past two weeks because of the work involved in placing my Dad into assisted living and closing out his apartment. Those of you who have been through this know what it takes. He is 91plus, a WWII vet, and getting very fragile physically. Mentally he is very "with it," and for that we are grateful. Plus, I have had the immeasurable help from my dearest husband and my daughter! So thankful to them!! I am hoping that as this week goes and he gets settled in, I will have more of my own time back for painting and writing. Meanwhile, keep up the good fight, read Mat's writings, and try not to give up on our dear country. We have to keep talking and letting people know we are not sitting here twiddling our thumbs while Rome burns..(I can't play a fiddle or I would have said,"fiddling!") :-) Stay tuned!!

Killing the Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs
There comes a time when there is so much wrong that you don't know where to start to try to correct the situation, when language has been twisted, morals have been distorted, thought has been turned into indoctrination, and intellect has been traded in for political correctness. There is a wonderful childhood story entitled, "The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs. I want to get across to you that America was full of Geese who laid Golden Eggs. Individuals who rose, out of whatever circumstance they were in, to contribute whatever eggs they laid to support their families, their employees, and their communities. It was a country full of these Geese that created a thriving, successful, creative, superior manner of existence for all of us. The government allowed these Geese to prosper and, thereby, a lot of golden eggs arrived. This formula worked fine until the government started meddling and stealing the eggs. And that stealing began in the 1920's with the Roosevelts. Wanting more, the government gradually has and is now in the process of killing the Geese.
Now,in the case of a cake recipe, when it fails, you throw it out and start over with a recipe that you know works. In the case of catastrophic policies, when they fail, you throw them out and start over with policies that are tried and true, that you know will work. In the case of bureaucrats and politicians, when they are ruining the country and tearing apart the fabric of common sense, you speak up to them and throw them out. In the case of teachers who are teaching anti-American, anti-family, anti-reason to our children, you should step up and demand they get out of our school system. When the government continues to pile on, day after day, un-Constitutional laws and the use of force against our freedoms, families, and businesses, you need to yell at the top of your lungs, "Stop it already!!!"
Obama and the Socialists in government are killing the Goose that laid the golden eggs. A few of us have been yelling at them to stop. A few of us are trying very hard to enlighten the indoctrinated. But the indoctrinated don't want to listen. They want to get part of those golden eggs that they didn't earn, so they are happy to let Obama kill the goose on their behalf. And there are those who have been seduced into thinking that life is so unfair that Obama is salvation for some misplaced collective guilt. They actually think that when the goose is dead, there will be any eggs to grab. They are seduced by the lyrical lies of the politically powered machine that is going to be dining on that goose until every shred of the flesh is gone. And then what?
How do I come to this strange analogy between the Goose with Golden Eggs and the Government? I heard Barrack Obama's speech at Notre Dame over the weekend. I listened to him admonish his audience to give up "self interest," to reject "crass materialism and greed." At which point, I thought, this guy is co-opting the language to suit his own desire of greed to kill the goose. I also thought to myself that he is talking to college students who, because of socialist government policies, now hardly have opportunities to find jobs except in the government sector. Think of yourself as a graduating college senior and the message you get from the President of the United States is this: Forget your own self-interest, forget your aims to gain financial independence, forget your desires to live in a nice house surrounded by useful furnishings, forget your wish to support your own family, put aside any ideas you have had to succeed in commercial endeavors.....your goals are now only righteous on behalf of the government and what the government wants from you is to support IT. This President is telling the graduating class of Notre Dame that their only worth is collective, to give to those who do not produce. Only dead Geese allowed in this country. Plucked to death and then necks wrung for roasting. Excuse the phrase, but HOLY MOLEY!
So, if you were a gosling, growing up dreaming of laying golden eggs, you might as well forget it now. You have been deemed a "greedy, selfish, materialistic Goose and your eggs belong to the government bureaucrats. Your Goose is cooked. In Obama's world, you exist for his benefit...to produce eggs for his collective healthcare, his collective manufacturing of cars and transportation, his collective energy system, his collective education system, his collective mortgage and banking system, his collective everything.
UNLESS....and UNTIL you decide the U.S. Constitution is worth defending and you can vote out and fight off the politicians who are in the business of killing you....you, the former Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs.
P.S. Please feel free to send this to all of the people you know who could use a smack of truth or who can explain to their children that this illegitimate President is stealing their futures.

Magical Mystery Tour, Part II
I don't know about you. I am the average middle American who lives a fairly simple life and, for most of my life, I have been grateful with every breath that I was fortunate enough to be born in America. I also was fortunate to be born into an era when my freedoms were not threatened by too many outside sources. A middle class life was achievable, education was attainable, opportunities were available.
However, my America has disappeared. "Poof!" Magicians entered into power and are in the business of taking my America away. A lot of really stupid Americans have voted these "magic" politicians into our government. But there is a master of the "Dark Arts" pulling the strings in the background, behind the curtain of politics, and I want you to know who this "Master Magician" is. His name is George Soros. If you haven't looked into his tricks prior to reading this, please take the time to google his name. Get his history. It will amaze you.
The billionaire, George Soros, funds so many left wing organizations that the list will make your head spin. While you are reading and watching the latest news about torture memos being released, Mr. Soros is conducting the show. You might have asked yourself why President Obama has done a somersault on his original position of not prosecuting any former administration officials on the subject of torture. All of a sudden, President Obama handed the hot potato over to his Attorney General, Eric Holder to pursue investigation from the A.G.'s office. Rather than call off the dogs, Obama suddenly decided to let the dogs go after it. Obama released CIA memos to the public and then rushed over to the CIA to pat them on the back and cover his rear after slapping them right in the face. Now, don't you wonder why and how that happened?
According to the Washington Times, April 22, 2009, Mr. Soros used one of his organizations, MoveOn.org., to petition the new administration to investigate and prosecute the previous administration. Mr. Soros is the master of .orgs and non-profits. This time he has set up yet another one, called the Commission on Accountability, to be the umbrella for his other .orgs and non-profits to go after the Bush administration. While you are reading and watching the latest news about torture memos being released, Mr. Soros is conducting the show. You might have asked yourself why President Obama has done a somersault on his original position of not prosecuting any former administration officials on the subject of torture. All of a sudden, President Obama handed the hot potato over to his Attorney General, Eric Holder to pursue investigation from the A.G.'s office. Rather than call off the dogs, Obama suddenly decided to let the dogs go after it. Obama released CIA memos to the public and then rushed over to the CIA to pat them on the back and cover his rear after slapping them right in the face. Now, don't you wonder why and how that happened?

Magical Mystery Tour
It isn't nice to be duped. It's tragic really. When a person gets taken in by a Ponzi scheme or a scam artist, it is a loss of innocence somehow. No one likes to be victimized. It's one thing when a young person is taken advantage of due to lack of life experience or education. It seems another thing, though, to witness an entire nation of people of all ages being scammed. The scene I see each day lately is sort of like going to a magic show where you know it is all illusion, but the audience participates and pays for the privilege of being fooled. At least in the magic show you know it is all for entertainment and you can't take it too seriously. Some magic acts involve hypnotism where an entire audience succumbs to the power of the hypnotist on stage who manages to convince people of his superior mental powers. Someone's wallet inevitably ends up in the hypnotist's pocket. While the audience laughs, applauds and touts the skills of the magicians, the magicians are laughing all the way to the bank. It's very clever, deceitful, cunning, sly, wily, and the audience who paid for the show walk out amused and shaking their heads in awe.
An acquaintance of mine has asked me over and over, "Why would anyone in the government be taking these steps on energy if it wasn't the right thing to do?" Further she asks, "If this global warming/climate change isn't true, then why are so many people on board with it?" "It must be true!" she insists. "All of these smart government officials are doing this for our own good!" "They're saving our planet!"
But there is a reason magic is included in a category called the "Dark Arts."I am astounded at how so many magicians have made it into our government. Since the early 1900's magician politicians have been scamming the American people using taxpayer money to benefit themselves. In the 1920's "progressive" magicians brought us into the age of the government nanny state. In the 1960's I remember the rallying cries were against the Industrial Military Complex. Supposedly those were the "bad guys." As usual the dissidents were the "progressive liberal democrat socialists" who just hated the military, the supporting industries and, I guess the 'complex' part was the government which enabled the former. The irony there is that the "progressive liberal democrat socialists" were all about gaining government control over everything they were ranting against. The environmentalists in those days were ranting about an impending ice age and warning we were doomed.
The latest group of magicians is taking the "Dark Arts" to a whole new level. While Bernie Madoff sits in prison awaiting trial, Nancy Pelosi sits atop the House of Representatives while profiting from T.Boone Pickens' Wind Farm scams and using the power of her position to grease the skids for her $100,000.00 to $250,000.00 investment in Picken's Clean Energy Fuels Corporation. Pickens' wind farm schemes depend on permanent government subsidies and the use of imminent domain to access land. Nancy is refusing to allow new drilling for oil and gas, new nuclear plants, new clean coal plants. At the same time, she is funneling your tax money into "green" initiatives to benefit her own investments. Smiling all the time, she proudly announces, "We're saving the planet!" Slight of hand? Or conflict of interest? Pretty nice trick, eh?
While you are worrying about how to recycle mercury based fluorescent lightbulbs made in China, Al Gore is raking in millions from his businesses based on carbon offsets. While Hank Paulson, former Sec. of the Treasury, convinced the entire government to borrow trillions of your taxes to prop up Wall St. and the banks, he is making money out of Gore's magic trick, too. Paulson, along with several Goldman Sach's cronies, is one of Gore's investors in Generation Investment Management, Inc., an investment group focused on Climate Change / Carbon Credit Trading firms. I guess Paulson would not want Goldman Sach's to fail, now would he?
"Suspend belief," the magicians tell you. "Believe us!" "We know what's best for you!" Well, science has proven that Global Warming is a hoax. The facts are that Pickens' wind farms use more energy to produce the equipment than they provide, take up huge swaths of land, kill migratory birds, not to mention the visual blight they create. Facts are that ethanol uses more energy to produce than it provides, and creates more pollution, not to mention the food shortages it creates. Facts are that Compact Fluorescent lightbulbs are lousy light and create mercury pollution in our environment. Facts are that the world has been cooling since 1998. Facts are that there has been no nuclear power plant accident in this country for thirty years and even then there was no exposure and no one hurt. Fact is that carbon dioxide is necessary for life to exist and is great for plants. I could go on with facts of this sort for pages and pages, but, if you love magic, would you listen?
The latest magic trick is this: Our magicians are finding out that not all of the audience is hypnotized and not buying the illusions. So to work around this obstacle, the magicians are bringing in the big dogs, i.e. the U.N. Obama's Energy Czar magician, Carol Browner, is going to the U.N. for a global mandate on Carbon offsets. (Browner is a former member of Socialist International, one of George Soros' many anti-American groups.) By going to the U.N. to set up an environmental treaty which Obama will sign, the American people will have no say in the matter, no votes through Congress, no possible chance to stop Gore, Pickens, Pelosi, Paulson, Browner, Soros, and their buddies from their collusion to steal more economic liberty from Americans. American sovereignty circumvented by magicians. America's children sold off to the magic tricks of some mighty clever socialists using our government and global pressure to take their future away.
