The next time some Obamanut says to you that we could afford everything under the sun if it weren't for the Iraq War and George Bush, you can show them this chart. The article attached is from a Washington Examiner Staff Writer who shares Randel Hoven's information from American Thinker. The article was posted in August, 2010, however, I just discovered it. The information below will give you the perspective you need to know when considering just who is responsible for raising the debt beyond the ceiling. Suffice it to say that the Iraq War, while not cheap or desirable, is not the major reason we are in the pickle we are in right now.
Social engineering is the reason we are in trouble. Anti-Constitutional policies are the reason we are in trouble. Progressive / Communistic politicians are the reason we are in trouble. Affirmative action, Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and the Prescription Drug Bill, housing subsidies, all socialistic programs are the reason we are in trouble. Corruption is the reason we are in trouble.
In short, there are a lot of reasons we are in over our heads, but the Iraq War is hardly the main reason for our excessive debt....not even close. Creating a dependent society is exactly what Progressives want. And when it collapses they have the excuse to create State Capitalism, which is just another fancy name for elitists running the table in their own favor.
"Just the facts, maam," as Sgt. Joe Friday used to say.
Outstanding post! I'm saving this because I know I can use it as a reference in the future.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
Thanks, Jim. I was glad to find this information, too. It's always good to find some real facts, since the media these days is so good at twisting and hiding the truth.
