I love it when the leftists realize we are onto them.  It's so much fun to watch them scramble for cover.  Well, Obama and his minions are scrambling for cover on the Sustainable Communities Initiatives now that the grassroots and Tea Partiers have begun exposing the sham.  

Not to be undone, though, Obama's cutie pies are one step ahead of us.  Bet this will fool any elite Congressperson who won't know what to look for in the funding bills.  Oh, wait, Congress doesn't read the bills anyway, so what does it matter?

Budget Proposes Major Changes to Sustainable Communities Initiative

In an effort to rejuvenate the unauthorized, defunded Sustainable Communities Initiative at the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), President Obama proposed a major overhaul to both the structure and the function of the competitive grant program in his FY14 budget.

The President’s budget recommends changing the name of the Office of Housing and Sustainable Communities, the office within HUD that administers the Sustainable Communities Initiative, to the Office of Economic Resilience (OER).

This represents both a name change and a shift in priorities to help communities face economic realities and challenges. The budget also recommends moving the OER to HUD’s Office of Community Planning and Development.

Though Sustainable Communities is changing to focus more on economic issues, HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan has voiced a strong commitment to the livability principles laid out in the initial stages of the program and plans to continue the strong federal partnerships forged with DOT and EPA.

The OER will seek out new partners that focus on economic resiliency within the federal government, including the Economic Development Administration, Commerce, the National Economic Council, and workforce development programs at the Department of Education. HUD is aiming to help communities develop strategies for economic resilience, including implementation strategies and planning. They are also hoping to leverage and align the rest of the HUD budget to work in service with the efforts of communities.

OER will provide $75 million in “Integrated Planning and Investment Strategy Grants.” These grants build on the Regional Planning and Community Challenge Grants, but will place a “greater emphasis on supporting actionable economic development strategies, reducing redundancy in federally-funded planning activities, setting monitoring performance, and identifying how federal formula funds can be used smartly and efficiently in support of economic resilience,” according to HUD’s budget. Current Regional Planning and Community Challenge grantees will not see any changes.

 (Note:  In that first sentence do you notice the word "unauthorized?"  Gee..I wonder what that means.   And "defunded."  Looks like the Republican House finally defunded this insidious monster. Oh wait...now they can fund it under the new name!  Isn't that clever?  These folks are so smart!)

Don't you love that word, "RESILIENT!"  Instead of "Sustainable," now we can be "Resilient."  That's so nice of them.  And "Economic Resilience" at that.  I feel so much better already.  They're looking out for our pocketbooks, don't ya know.  Whew.  Just when I thought the gravy train might run out.  All is well now, isn't it?  

Thanks so much to all of you wonderfully generous Socialists and Fascists who are running our Federal government.  I just don't know how I can return the favor.  Oh wait.  You have that all figured out, too!  You can tax and enslave my grandchildren to pay for more of this Agenda 21 Plan for Amerika.  I forgot...Obama and his mobsters on both sides of the aisle don't miss a trick. 

CHERYL MEETS ORWELL - RIGHT HERE AND NOW

I went to the Animal Fair....I mean, Animal Farm...in 1984...just last night.  Orwell is alive and well, having accurately predicted the future, and that future is NOW.  Actually it was a Dog and Pony Show put on by the propaganda experts from the unelected Centralina Council of Governments.  It was a room full of posters and bureaucrats handing out surveys with stupid questions.  Questions like: "How would you like to see your "region" grow?"  Questions like: "Would you like to see more roads or, would you rather see more houses close to work places?"  Questions like, "Would you like more bike paths and sidewalks?" Questions like, "Would you like to see more open spaces and parks?"  The surveys were a joke, frankly.  Posters that state: "The population in our region is going to double in the next 20 yrs."  Oops, "40 yrs."  Oops, "50 yrs."  (Seriously, they have published all three time frames in different propaganda pieces, so which is it?)  Posters that tell you "the demographic is going to be a lot older and a lot poorer."  Posters that say, "We can fix all these things."  Posters that say, "You can be part of this VOLUNTARILY."  Sure, and my Aunt Sadie was the Queen of Egypt, too.

Our county stays at over 10% unemployment.  More layoffs were announced yesterday.  The birth rate is declining.  The previous year increase in population in this state was 1.2%.  Multiply that by 20 years and you have a 24% increase, hardly double to 200% of the current population.  The only jobs that seem to exist are service jobs.  Manufacturing is still on the wane, and has been for years.  People don't make anything anymore.  They either don't have jobs or they are in service industries.  Oh, and the largest employer here is....guess who?  The government.

Anyway, back to Animal Farm and 1984, I managed to get several Tea Party people there.  Not to be outdone, the bureaucrats had called in every non-profit in the county and had them show up.  They have been told they will have a "seat at the table," and they will be in line to get more money from the Feds if they participate.  I was prepared.  I had printed out flyers of information for anyone and everyone, countering the lies and subterfuge.  I handed them out.  My husband and I were watched every minute by the smarmy, nasty, beady-eyed bureaucrats in suits.  We engaged people in conversations and asked them if they would read my flyers.  I had good feedback from most, thanking me for my editorial in the paper and telling me they didn't know about this prior to reading my editorial.  (side note: it is good to find that people actually do read newspapers today.) 

The Dog and Pony Show also attracted two of our City Council members who were promoting this "regional government," federal monster that they voted to join on our behalf.  One of them didn't look me in the eyes and barely said hello.  The other, a woman, did engage me in conversation.  And here is where the whole thing went off the rails for me.  Below is an account of that conversation.

"Hello Councilwoman."  "Hello Cheryl."  I then said, "Councilwoman, I have information for you on this regional government and I would like to come to your office and share that with you."  "Oh," she said, "No, you don't need to do that."  "I already know how you feel."  I said, "Councilwoman, you do know that you were misled and that the Director of Centralina Council of Governments misrepresented all of this to you, don't you?"  She said, "I know how you feel and I just disagree with you."  I said, "Councilwoman, I have copies of the HUD grant and the actual grant application that proves you were misled."  I'd like very much to share that with you, so that you might revisit this situation and rescind the agreement."  She replied, "I can see you are very concerned about this, but if someone could prove to me I was misled or that I am wrong, I'll look into it."  I said, "Councilwoman, I have the contract application right here with me." " I can show you the proof."  "I can come to your office and lay it all out for you."  "No, that won't be necessary," she said.  Next, she said again, "I just disagree with you and that's O.K." (Was she giving herself permission to disagree with me?)  She continued, "You are entitled to your opinion."  I replied, "Councilwoman, this is not opinion."  "I have the facts right here," showing her my folder of documents. "I would like to discuss them with you." "May I have an appointment?"  "No, that won't be necessary," she said.  "But if someone can prove to me I was misled, I'll revisit the vote for this."  (HUH?  Didn't we just go through that? And didn't I just tell her I have the proof?)  "Councilwoman, you represent ME," I said.  "I would like to show you the proof that I have."  She then rolled her eyes and said, "Well, if this doesn't turn out the way we think, then maybe I'll look at it again," dismissing me at that moment. Goodbyes all around....end of conversation.

It's 4:00 a.m. right now.  I couldn't sleep.  I woke up at 3:00 and my mind went back to that exchange with the Councilwoman.  There was a bit more to it where I gave her three examples of lies that should be obvious to anyone.  She pretended to listen, but refused to acknowledge them.  I have a lot I could say about her personally, based on this and other conversations with her in the past, not to mention her votes on issues.  You don't want to hear (or read) what I personally think of her after this conversation.  It wouldn't be fit to print.  But I have to say, George Orwell should be very proud.  His worst predictions have arrived, right here and right now. 

KNOW THY ENEMY - OBAMA STEALING FROM THE SUBURBS

Yesterday the Daily Caller brought forth a video of Obama from 2007 that had not been shown to the mass public.  There are two major points that most sites are emphasizing.  One is the very racially oriented bent of Obama regarding the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.  The other is that he profusely praises his infamous Pastor, Rev. Wright, known for his "G-d Damn America" rant.  

But I want to focus on another part of the speech.  The part where Obama so blatantly criticizes spending for roads to and in the suburbs.

The Daily Caller also highlighted a segment in which Obama questions federal priorities in transportation spending.
"We need additional federal public transportation dollars flowing to the highest-need communities. We don’t need to build more highways out in the suburbs. If we have people in the cities right now who want to work but have no way to get into those jobs, we've got to help connect them to the jobs that exist,” Obama said. “We should be investing in minority-owned businesses, in our neighborhoods, so people don’t have to travel from miles away.”

This statement by Obama confirms the recent writings of Stanley Kurtz titled "How Obama is Robbing  the Suburbs to Pay for the Cities."  From National Review

This (I believe illegal) President, who said there are "no White Americans or Black Americans, just Americans," has been deliberately and methodically destroying the middle class for his entire tenure, a middle class that, for a large part, live in the suburbs. The hate this man reveals for the American way of life is palpable.  He foments division and covetousness more than any public figure I have ever witnessed.  But I digress....

Locally there is controversy and bad blood over a Federal grant called Sustainable Communities Initiative handed out to an unelected Council of Government NGO.  This Federal grant, established by Obama in 2009, is bribery money to funnel money into the inner city and away from rural suburbs.  It says so in the Sustainable Communities Initiative grant.  This is not conjecture.  It states that transportation money is to be spent on walking, biking, and mass transit.  Not roads.  Roads are for people who drive cars.  Obama doesn't want people who drive cars to have transportation money, even though the majority of transportation money is taken from drivers via gasoline taxes and other car taxes.  He wants your money to pay for his inner city buddies and his environmentalist buddies who hate cars and trucks.

So I have some questions.  Who has made cars more expensive to buy?  Who has regulated cars and cafe standards to make cars more unsafe and less affordable for the middle class?  Who has created a GM - Chevy Volt, that catches on fire and is subsidized to the tune of $49,000 per vehicle....using money from those middle class taxpayers? Who loaned American taxpayer money to Fiskar to prop up a foreign car manufacturer connected to Al Gore?  Who has insisted on turning food into bio-fuels?  ( I grant that one was not his original idea...been going on for a while now, but he ramped it up.) Who has taken transportation money and blown it on bike lanes and greenways?  

The United States of America is under attack by domestic enemies.  Obama is just the most prominent public face of these domestic enemies today, but hardly the only one.   There are many in our government.   Just remember this November 6th.  Know they enemy.
